Google releases SEO starter guide

Hulu revenue catching up to YouTube

Despite the fact that Hulu has a smaller audience and started much later than YouTube, it's already catching up with the Web video giant in terms of revenue. This seems to be because advertisers feel safer seeing their brands paired with professionally produced content, rather than in YouTube's case, user-generated and sometimes illegally-used content. (There's good news to be unpacked for newspapers in here somewhere, not necessarily in terms of video but in terms of professionally produced content.) Scott Karp at Publishing 2.0 has some good observations about this, but also points out, "It probably costs a lot more than $180 million to produce the content on Hulu, which means that it’s not a standalone business." This is pretty key. Same issue for newspapers – thinking about the revenue the Web can generate has to include thinking about the cost of professional content production.
