The LG Dare takes great video, but I had to poke around quite a bit and try a bunch of different offerings to find a good tool for encoding it to work with any of the simple video editing programs I have. Found this program, SUPER © by eRightSoft referenced on the Dare forums here. Works well for batch conversion, and is much, much faster than a number of the other paid versions I demo'd. You control the output container, video codec and audio codec individually – huge range available.
It's funny, so many of the program descriptions out there (including this one) focus first on their ability to convert video so you can watch it on your phone, which must be many folks' first priority. For me, it's the opposite. I really wanted to experiment with how far I could take the phone-captured video for video blogging. Seems like a logical next step for user-generated content for both news and entertainment/lifestyle sites, or even for business (quick cell video interviews at conferences) or how-to or sports type stuff (video-blogging the latest hatch on the stream or the finish of a marathon).
