I've been working on putting together an email marketing panel for a newspaper industry conference at the end of this month (Oct. 30, Lowell, MA).  The panel will discuss how newspapers can leverage existing assets to make more use of email marketing; both as a promotional tool and a revenue stream.  It will showcase experts from outside the newspaper industry, as well as possibly a few newspaper folks who have begun to make real progress in the field.  For details on NENMA's one-day fall conference, check out the New England New Media Association Web site.

And in the meantime, here's a great resource I came across during the research for this.  The Email Experience Council has posted a series of questions and answers – basically and email marketing 101 primer, including information on using email to compliment other channels, obeying CAN-SPAM and other laws, getting and maintaining permissions, ensuring delivery, growing your lists, and what to send.
