Saw a reference on Mashable today to UmbrellaToday.com. This site gives me that same feeling as The Million Dollar Homepage did: why didn't we think of that? And why are we working so hard to create deep, rich interesting content and a complex network of sites to deliver local and regional news and advertising? Except it's not quite fair to compare the simplicity of The Million Dollar Homepage and UmbrellaToday.com, because besides having a cool gimmick, UmbrellaToday.com actually provides an interesting, super-simple but eminently practical service. And since I never think to check the weather, the SMS alert for a rainy day may actually come in pretty handy.
