Superman Returns – Maybe He Shouldn’t Have
We finally got around to watching Superman Returns last night. Could have skipped it.
A few quick observations:
1. There was a funny/interesting bit of commentary on the challenges facing the newspaper industry in our era: Perry White (looking at close up pictures of Superman holding a car above his head) says, "These are iconic

I heard the next one is going to be called Superman Returns… An itchy sweater that never really fit him right anyway. Plus the color was all wrong for him.
Ha! You’re absolutely right about the creepy, stalkerish side of the Man of Steel. But did you notice that Lois’ new beau also played Cyclops in “The X-Men” movies? In a pivotal moment, I was thinking, “This would be a great time to break out those laser eyes of yours!”
Alyssa, that sounds preferable to what I saw last night. Give Bryan Singer a call! (Imagine how creepy Supes could be stalking Lois in a whole new itchy sweater.)
Jen, yes, he was the highlight of the movie. Oddly, his character was kind of a sullen jerk in the X-Men movies, but in the Superman world he seemed like a stand-up guy. He’s either a good actor with two diverse roles to play, or he just seems pleasant compared to this version of Superman.
