Vermont emergency management officials are collecting non-perishables at a number of locations around the state today and tomorrow. I stopped by the one in Montpelier, on the State House lawn, this afternoon, to snap a picture for the Rutland Herald and Times Argus Web sites. The energy was intense, and the flow of people bringing donations in cars, on carts and in their arms, was steady.
If you’re reading from Vermont, check out the list of donation points on the Rutland Herald Web site and get on by if you can.
Blog-dar?
A non-hurricane-related observation: I’m standing there with my laptop bag, taking pictures with my little digital camera, not having enough gear to look much like a news photographer and having way too much gear to look like a news writer, and this guy comes up to me and asks, "hey, are you a blogger?" "I’m the digital media director for The Rutland Herald and Times Argus newspapers," I answered. "So no, not professionaly … but yes, I do keep a personal blog." Turns out the guy was Morgan Brown, a regular Vermont blogger. We’d corresponded by e-mail and talked on the phone – he’s a nice guy. It’s funny how someone would just look at someone at an event like a hurricane relief collection point and think, "blogger" — and be right! Must be blog-dar.
